1. The clubs shall be called (1) ‘New Sidcup Badminton Club’, (2) ‘New Eagles Badminton Club’ & (3) New Bexley Badminton Club.
  2. The primary object of the clubs shall be to provide a focal point for the promotion and enjoyment of badminton.
  3. The clubs shall be managed by a committee of members which shall consist of the following Officers:  Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer(s), Team Leaders, Equipment Officer, Recruitment Officer, Social Officer, Administration Officer and Club Representatives. The committee shall have the power to co-opt additional members as necessary. The committee shall be elected at the A.G.M. and subject to termination of office or otherwise shall remain in office until their successors are appointed at the A.G.M. next following their appointment. Nominations from club members are requested annually (usually early August).
  4. Rules may be introduced/deleted or amended at committee or general meetings providing there are at least a two-thirds majority of committee members present.
  5. The committee shall call a special general meeting at their discretion or at the request of not less than half the members.
  6. At all meetings the chairperson shall have the casting vote in the event of an equality of votes. In the absence of the chairperson, a senior committee member will conduct the meetings and will have the casting vote.
  7. The committee shall have the power to request any member to resign or to terminate any membership without explanation, but for the purposes of this rule, the vote of not less than two-thirds of the whole committee shall be necessary.
  8. Copies of the Club Constitution shall be issued to all members on joining the club and as when amended.
  9. Notice of the A.G.M. and subsequent general meeting shall be circulated to members at least twenty eight days before the date of the meeting.
  10. The committee shall not be responsible for articles lost, stolen or damaged.
  11. The clubs will play as often as possible throughout the year, usually Monday evenings for ‘New Sidcup Badminton Club’, Wednesday evenings for New Bexley Badminton Club and Thursday evenings for ‘New Eagles Badminton Club’.
  12. All games shall be played in a non league, social and friendly environment and to the rules of Badminton England.
  13. The Badminton England rally scoring system will be used (i.e. 21 points).
  14. Order of play is controlled by the pegboard system (see separate rotation policy).  Member must be ready to go on court as soon as his/her turn arises.  When attendance is below 23 the pegboard system will be withdrawn and members will operate a fair rotation system. Throughout the practice sessions, all members are required to vary their playing partners and opponents to ensure there is a fluent mix of sexes and skill levels. Failure to comply with this rule will result in membership being withdrawn.
  15. Members are required to fully comply with the shuttlecock etiquette policy.
  16. Appropriate sports clothing and good quality footwear must be worn.  
  17. Assisting with the set up and putting away of equipment is a requirement of membership.               
  18. All applications for membership shall be made in writing on the appropriate form and shall be signed by the candidate. Acceptance of new members to the clubs shall be at the discretion of the committee.
  19. The minimum age for membership is 14 years. Members aged 14 to 17 are classified as junior members and may attend if accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Approval must be obtained from the Recruitment Office and the Child Welfare Officer before acceptance of any new junior member.  Each club can usually facilitate up to 4 junior members at any one time.
  20. Members may only participate in group nights for which their club membership applies. Exceptions to this rule may be approved by the committee, for example when club night falls on a Bank Holiday.
  21. Visitors may attend at the discretion of the committee (sanction must be obtained prior to any visits). The visitor must be introduced by a member each time. That member shall be responsible for the payment of the visitors playing fee.
  22. Resignations - Formal notification is required from members. This notification should be sent, in writing, to the club’s secretary.  Where over payment of playing charges has occurred, any refunds will apply from when the secretary received the formal notification.
  23. The Public Liability subscription must be paid in full by 1st September each year, or on being accepted as a member of the clubs. The
    clubs will pay this subscription for members who have been with the clubs for more than six months.
  24. Playing charges must be paid one month in advance, month on month throughout the year and by Standing Order. These monthly playing fees are required even if no attendance occurs. Exceptional circumstance could be reviewed by committee members.
  25. It is the responsibility of the member to ensure that payments due are received by the club. If payments are not received within 8 weeks of payments being due, then membership will be terminated.
  26. No member whose membership has been terminated under rule 24, or who owes money to the clubs shall be allowed to rejoin the club, or attend as a visitor.
  27. To protect the club(s) longevity, each club will maintain positions of financial stability by accruing account balances to cover at least six months court fees.
  28. Should any of the club(s) no longer be viable and the accounts need to be wound up then residual funds, after all creditors have been satisfied, shall be donated to a club or organisation with similar aims and objectives.
  29. Complaints by members will not be considered by the committee unless made in writing to the secretary giving full particulars of the complaint and signed by the complainant.
